The absence in Spain of a journal devoted to the study of orality issues related to African societies (oral literature, oral history, mythic and religious oral traditions, custom law and politics, aspects and dimensions of culture related to spirituality, with knowledge passed from generation to generation, with its learning processes) was the motivation for the Directors and other members of the existing Boards of Oráfrica to start a journal as a tool for the distribution of their research and the research of other specialists in these fields, with the conviction that the study of African orality is key to understanding the past and the present, history and culture, African identities.

The journal publishes articles in Spanish, which must be original research on any aspect related to African oral traditions, once approved by the External Evaluation Reviewers, by the Editorial Board and the Directors.
